Employees of the Department of Labor and Employment had a fun and rewarding discussion and a make-over session during its Seminar on Job Enrichment through the Power of Appearance, organized by the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) in cooperation with personality development firm, John Robert Powers.

The seminar, which is part of the Gender for Development Program of the ILS, gave job enrichment tips for both men and women to develop a more positive attitude at work and to reach their full potential in their careers.

“Our advocacy on green jobs does not end on research and policy papers; we need to put this in action to make a positive dent on environment protection.”

This was the statement of Executive Director Cynthia R. Cruz before the employees of Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) got down and dirty to plant 2,000 mangrove shoots at Kalawangan River, Iba, Zambales.

Be rice-ponsible!

This was the pledge of the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) and the Department of Agriculture (DA) during the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) flag-raising ceremony, in support to the National Year of Rice.

The National Year of Rice is part of the Philippine government’s campaign to achieve rice self-sufficiency beginning 2013 through the promotion of responsible rice consumption and productive rice farming.

Real estate developers are now encouraged to think about protecting unique features of heritage buildings, rather than tearing them down.

This was among the arguments presented at the stakeholders’ forum on the Building for Ecologically Responsive Design Excellence (BERDE) voluntary green building rating system, conducted by the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) and the Philippine Green Building Council (PhilGBC) at the Occupational Safety and Health Center. BERDE is supported by the Department of Energy under the Philippine Energy Efficiency: Efficient Building Initiative (PEE-EBI) Project

Youth employment research topped the agenda of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) at the DOLE Inter-Agency Committee on Research Matters (DOLE-IAC-RM) Stakeholder Consultations organized by the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) in January.

With the theme, “The Future of Work: Research Initiatives for 2013,” this year’s stakeholder consultation took a special focus on decent jobs for the youth with the 2013 DOLE focus on youth employment.
