The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) completed its preparatory activities for third-party audit in preparation for its ISO 9001:2008 certification.
The ILS audit program of 19 enrolled process areas started in October 26, 2015 with a Quality Management System (QMS) Internal Audit determining the Institute’s conformance to the requirements of ISO 9001:2008. This was followed by pre-certification assessment facilitated by auditors from Rosehall Management Consultants. The ILS pre-certification findings provided guidance for management and staff to further review its processes and address non-compliance findings.
The Institute is set to undergo Stages 1 and 2 of third-party audit in December 2015 prior to the grant of the ISO certification.
The ISO certification is in compliance with Executive Order 605 series 2007 directing all government agencies to adopt the ISO 9001 Quality Management System Standards as part of the implementation of a government-wide quality management program.
ISO 9001: 2008 is an international standard related to quality management system, which is based on eight quality management principles: Customer Focus, Leadership, Process Approach, System Approach, Fact-based Decision-making, and Mutually Beneficial Supplier Relationships.
