Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies organized its very first advocacy engagement with the academe titled, “#TrabahongTrending: The Future of Work from the Millennials’ Perspective” at the Bukod Tanging Bulwagan of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) last October 25.

ILS Executive Director Ahmma Charisma Lobrin-Satumba delivered the opening remarks for the event while PLM OIC- Dean Cecil V. Sabordo gave a message of support on behalf of the university.

Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) underwent an on-site assessment for its compliance with Program to Institutionalize Meritocracy and Excellence in Human Resource Management (PRIME-HRM) from October 21-25.

The Assessment Team from the Civil Service Commission-National Capital Region (CSC-NCR) was composed of Director Claudia A. Tan, Director Cecilia C. Villafuerte and Supervising HRS Ferlita A. Guillermo.

Manila - Senior Labor and Employment Officer John Emmanuel B. Villanueva from the Institute’s Employment Research Division (ERD) was awarded the Best Presenter award during the 7th International Conference on Asian Studies, which was held last 21-22 October 2019 in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Mr. Villanueva presented his 2018 study titled, “Labor and employment governance in a Federal Philippines: A Policy Delphi-Survey Study.” His participation is in line with the Institute’s continuing effort to broaden the reach of its policy advocacy campaign—not just within the Philippines but also worldwide.

Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies published and recently released the Philippine Journal of Labor Studies Volume 1, Nos. 1 and 2.

The said journal is a compendium of all 2018 policy researches conducted by the Institute in collaboration with relevant agencies and regional offices of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). The journal has been designed to serve as a resource and reference for policy makers, researchers, academe, and advocates who wish to explore and delve on the nuances and specifics of labor and employment policy decision-making, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation.

The Institute for Labor Studies Acting Deputy Director Patrick Patriwirawan, Jr. delivered his presentation titled “Updates on the Implementation of the Green Jobs Act and Formulation of the National Green Jobs Human Resource Development Plan” during the Sustainable Energy Ecosystems International Conference and Renewable Energy Congress held in Cebu City last September 25.
