Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) successfully organized the 2019 DOLE Research Conference with the theme “Shaping the Discourse on the Future of Decent Work,” last November 26 at the AG New World Hotel in Manila

ILS Acting Deputy Director Patrick Patriwirawan, Jr. welcomed the participants while Assistant Secretary Dominique R. Tutay delivered the Message on behalf of Undersecretary Ana C. Dione.

Manila – Institute for Labor Studies Acting Chief for the Labor and Social Relations Research Division Ms. Miraluna S. Tacadao successfully completed the International Training Programme on “Labor and Employment Relations in a Global Economy” from November 4 – 22nd at the V.V. Giri National Labour Institute in Noida, India.

Manila – Institute for Labor Studies Executive Director Charisma Lobrin-Satumba participated in the “Global Social Protection Week: Achieving SDG 1.3 and Universal Social Protection in the Context of the Future of Work” organized by the International Labour Organization n Geneva, Switzerland from 25-28 November 2019.

Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies’ Advocacy event titled, “#TrabahongTrending: The Future of Work from the Millennials’ Perspective,” was recently highlighted in UNTV’s Good Morning Kuya show during its’ October 28 episode.

In UNTV’s interview, ILS Director Ahmma Charisma Lobrin-Satumba said: “Since we are already in the 4th Industrial Revolution, it is high time that we increase the technical knowledge of our students. It is also very important that we focus on what we call ‘soft skills’ which include communication, creativity, and complex problem-solving skills since a lot of jobs in the future are headed towards automation and a lot of employers now focus on hiring based on ‘soft skills’.”

Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies successfully followed up its advocacy event titled, “#TrabahongTrending:  The Future of Work from the Millennials’ Perspective” at the College of Arts and Letters Audio Visual Room of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines last November 13.
