The Institute for Labor Studies(ILS) and National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) jointly organized the workshop titled Process Evaluation of Productivity Tool Box and Survey Operations Using SurveyCTO Server as Platform on 19-20 March 2018 at the NWPC Conference Room, DY International Building, Gen. Malvar cor Marcelino, Malate Manila and at iLearn Conference Room, Institute for Labor Sties, 5th Floor DOLE Bldg. Intramuros, Manila, respectively.

“Integrating gender lens in our labor policy research will help enhance our researches.” This is a closing statement of Acting Executive Director Ahmma Charisma Lobrin Satumba, as she thanked the speaker for the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) for the training on Gender Mainstreaming in Research,, which was held on 22 March 2018 at iLearn Conference room, 5th Floor DOLE Bldg., Intramuros, Manila.

“The Batas Kasambahay Law has been lauded as a landmark piece of social legislation in the Philippine history, as it has instituted policies for protection of one of the most vulnerable sections of society: the domestic workers. Now, on its fifth year of implementation, mahalaga sigurong kumustahin natin ang ating mga kasambahay kung napabuti ba   ang kanilang kalagayan?”

The Philippines continues to traverse an upward trend of economic gains, as it climbed 12 notches to reach the 58th spot in The Heritage Foundation’s 2017 Index of Economic Freedom (IEF), from 70th among all ranked countries the year before. With an overall score of 65.6 (up from 63.1 in 2016), the Philippines maintains its stature as a moderately free economy—one that provides an institutional environment where individuals, as well as private enterprises, benefit from at least a modest degree of economic freedom in seeking greater competitiveness, prosperity, and growth

For 2018, the priority researches enrolled by the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) are ones  that have direct impact to DOLE functions and operations, except for two researches on the Future of Work and HRD Plan for Green Jobs,. ILS will partner with bureaus and other DOLE agencies,” says ILS Acting Executive Director Ahmma Lobrin-Satumba.
