On 14 August 2018, the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) organized a deaf awareness seminar themed “Breaking Down Employment Barriers for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)” at the iLearn Conference Room, 5th Floor, DOLE Bldg., Intramuros, Manila.
The seminar is in line with ILS’ commitment of promoting welfare and social protection across all sectors, with special focus for deaf and Hard of Hearing (HOH) persons. It also highlighted the importance of increasing sensitivity to bridge the communication gap with PWDs through sign language.
On 01 August 2018, Ms. Miraluna Tacadao of the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) presented the 2017 ILS research titled "Gap Analysis of Key ILO OSH Conventions” at the Visayas and Mindanao-wide Tripartite Consultation and Workshop on the Proposed Amendments of the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Standards at the Seda Centrio Hotel, in Cagayan de Oro City
The Institute for Labor Studies participated in the “First Stakeholder Consultation Workshop on the Updating of the National Climate Change Action Plan (NCCAP)” on 29-30 August 2018 in Dolcelatte, Quezon Avenue, Quezon City.
The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) conducted a consultation/workshop on “Improving Public Service based on Secure Rights, Welfare and Benefits for Job Orders (JO) and Contract of Service (COS) Workers” last 25 July 2018 at the Bayleaf Hotel, Intramuros, Manila.
The event is part of the data gathering process of the ILS research titled “Exploring the Case of Job Orders and Contract of Service Workers in the Government” by Mr. Ivan Cassidy F. Villena. It also served as an initial consultation with stakeholders and key partners to obtain data, and information on JOs and COS.
The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) held a forum titled “ Harnessing Opportunities and Mitigating Risks: A Policy Forum on Trade and Employment” held last 24 July 2018 at ILS iLearn Conference Room in Intramuros, Manila.
The event sought to provide an overview of concepts related to the field of international trade particularly focusing on the different international trade policies adopted by the Philippines. It also aimed to familiarize participants with the different mechanisms enforced to promote the welfare of domestic industries amidst international trade.
