This was the call of the Institute for Labor Studies, at its recent offering during the Department of Labor and Employment year-round green themed flag ceremonies  tagged “DOLE in Green, Sa Isip, Sa Salita at Sa Gawa.”

In support of its Green Our DOLE Program (GODP), the Department of Labor and Employment has reserved its Monday mornings for green initiatives its offices can emulate. Beginning January of this year, all attached agencies, bureaus, services, and selected regional offices have been directed to host Department flag ceremonies based on this green theme.

More than 2500 students and career guidance counselors will gather for a campus lecture on Decent Work in Cebu.  The event marks the final stop of the “Balik Tanaw, Bagong Pananaw” Diamond Lecture Series of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) scheduled on October 9 at the Cebu Doctors University Auditorium.

As the last semester of the school year approaches, thousands of graduating students gear up for internships or on-the-job training (OJT) to get a taste of the world of work.

But are the available internship programs living up to the objective of preparing students for work after graduation?

Labor Diplomacy goes live online at the Working World Trialogues (WWT) at the Microsoft Headquarters in Makati from May 13-14. The two-day event, organized by labor think tank Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) is the first online gathering of government, civil society leaders and Filipino labor attaches and welfare officers around the world.

 

The new Japanese Labor Attache to the Philippines, Mr. Masami Hirata, has paid a courtesy call on ILS Executive Director Cynthia Cruz.

At the meeting held at the Executive Director’s Office, Director Cynthia Cruz congratulated Labor Attache Masami Hirata on his appointment, and discussed ideas on further strengthening the partnership between the Institute for Labor Studies and the Office of the Labor Attache of Japan.
