Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) gears up for its second webinar under its 2021 Advocacy Webinar series with the theme, “Resilience in Stride - Road to Employment Recovery and Adapting to the New Normal.”

Co-organized by the Employment Research Division and the Advocacy and Publications Division, the webinar, “Introduction to Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) Modelling as a Labor Policy Analytical Tool,” is slated for online broadcast via Zoom on August 6.

The Institute for Labor Studies, represented by John Emmanuel B. Villanueva, Senior Labor and Employment Officer, delivered the Philippines’ report on the implementation of the country’s Green Jobs Law during the launch of the “Final Report of the Regional Study on Green Jobs Policy Readiness in ASEAN” held via Zoom on 09 July 2021.

The report addressed how the enactment of the Green Jobs Act supported the promotion of green jobs in the Philippines and how it helped in the acceleration of the greening of local vocational education and training systems.

Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) presented the results of its Gap Analysis on ILO Convention 190 during a roundtable discussion (RTD) held last July 6 via Zoom.

The RTD with the theme, “A Workers’ Forum: Where are we on ILO Convention 190 Ratification in the Philippines?,” was convened in partnership with the International Labour Organization, Nagkaisa labor coalition, SENTRO (Sentro ng mga Nagkakaisa at Progresibong Manggagawa) and the Department of Labor and Employment.

The Institute for Labor Studies’ (ILS) Information Systems Strategic Plan for the Fiscal Years 2021-2023 (ISSP FY 2021-2023) has been endorsed to the Department of Budget Management (DBM) by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies’ John Emmanuel B. Villanueva, Acting Chief of the Employment Research Division, won the 2nd prize in the Young Researchers Competition for his presentation titled, “Political Dynasties and Human Development Investments: Evidence of Linkage from Rizal Province, Philippines.”

Mr. Villanueva presented his Master of Public Administration (MPA) thesis on political dynasties during the “Spatial Dimension of Sustainable Development” Session of the 13th World Congress of the Regional Science Association International (RSAI) held on 28 May 2021.
