Antipolo City, Rizal – The Institute for Labor Studies’ researchers presented the findings of their papers on Gig Economy and Ecozones to CALABARZON Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Managers during the 2023 Performance Assessment and Planning Exercises of the Region IV-A Alliance of Public Employment Service Officers (RAPESO), Inc. held on 25 January, at the Ynares Events Center, Antipolo City, Rizal.

The said activity aims to gather CALABARZON PESO managers and staff to evaluate the performance of their respective offices, discuss challenges and pain points, as well as good practices in the implementation of programs, activities, and projects, and solicit inputs for the betterment of the operations of PESOs.

 Miraluna S. Tacado, Chief Labor and Employment Officer of the Workers’ Welfare Research Division, presented the ILS paper titled “Evolving a Governance Framework for Workers in the Gig Economy,” while Athena Mari E. Son, Senior Labor and Employment Officer of the Employment Research Division presented the ILS paper titled “Overview of Employment Generation in Select Ecozones in the Philippines.”

 “The paper presentations would greatly benefit our stakeholders in learning its significant findings, thereby initiating courses of action to improve our employment programs and services. Furthermore, this is an opportune time for the PESOs to learn the trends in the labor market toward better local employment promotions and facilitation at the grassroots level,” Regional Director Atty. Roy L. Buenafe of the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. IV (CALABARZON) said.

 The ILS papers “Evolving a Governance Framework for Workers in the Gig Economy” and “Overview of Employment Generation in Select Ecozones in the Philippines” are part of the Institute’s 2023 Working Paper Series.
