The Philippines has already reached more than two million Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases. As a result, our country's health system gets overwhelmed periodically, and our healthcare front-liners appear mostly exhausted. COVID-19 has indeed uncovered many challenges and risks for our health workers. The current global health crisis serves as an eyeopener to the lingering healthcare issues and challenges in many countries, which even long pre-existed the pandemic, and as an opportunity to reform the systems and structures that allow those issues and challenges to linger in the first place.
