The tuna hand line fishery in General Santos City has been regarded as one of the major
components of commercial fisheries in the Philippines. However, the significance of this sector is increasingly
being threatened by various globalization issues that created new challenges in the working conditions of tuna
hand line fishermen. Hence, using the four pillars of decent work, this study assesses the working conditions
and the level of decent work of tuna hand line fishermen on board fishing vessels.
