Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies attended the case presentation and public plenary event titled, “4IR: 4ASEAN and 4theFuture” last October 6 at the Discovery Primea Hotel in Makati City.

Organized by the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, in partnership with Microsoft, the event featured four case studies authored and presented by Dr. Eduardo Araral, Vice Dean of Research for the cloud computing in the Philippines; Dr. Reuben Ng, Assistant Professor for the cloud computing in Singapore and; Dr. Vu Minh Khuong, Associate Professor for the cloud computing in Myanmar and Vietnam, all from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy in National University of Singapore.

These case studies were compiled and published by Microsoft as “A Cloud for Doing Good: A Technology for All in ASEAN,” where the researchers shared critical findings and policy recommendations on the ICT situation of each ASEAN country assigned to them.

These case studies made reference to the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) and looked at key data about the readiness of these nations to adopt widespread cloud computing as well as potential barriers to digital transformation.

“Cloud computing is at the heart of the current technology revolution and digital transformation going on in ASEAN. This is why it’s imperative to look into the trends and best practices of other nations so that we can adapt more readily to the what is increasingly digital global economy,” emphasized Dr. Astrid Tuminez, Regional Director for Corporate, External and Legal Affairs for Southeast Asia.

ILS was represented by Ms. Tecelyn B. Maramag, Senior Labor and Employment Officer from the Advocacy and Publications Division of the Institute.
