Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies’ Advocacy event titled, “#TrabahongTrending: The Future of Work from the Millennials’ Perspective,” was recently highlighted in UNTV’s Good Morning Kuya show during its’ October 28 episode.

In UNTV’s interview, ILS Director Ahmma Charisma Lobrin-Satumba said: “Since we are already in the 4th Industrial Revolution, it is high time that we increase the technical knowledge of our students. It is also very important that we focus on what we call ‘soft skills’ which include communication, creativity, and complex problem-solving skills since a lot of jobs in the future are headed towards automation and a lot of employers now focus on hiring based on ‘soft skills’.”

The TV coverage featured the premiere run of #TrabahongTrending at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, which was attended by 130 participants comprised mostly of students and members of the faculty.

#TrabahongTrending is the brainchild of Advocacy and Publications Senior Labor and Employment Officer Atty. Tecelyn B. Maramag, who devised the program as a cohesive learning and research sharing experience with students and members of the academe.

The advocacy aims to contribute to the Labor Education program of the DOLE by fostering partnerships with the members of the academic community by teaching Basic Labor Standards who will directly benefit from the immediate knowledge gained from the session. More importantly it aims to raise awareness about the ‘Future of Work’ among college students who will eventually join the workforce after their graduation.
