The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) has commenced its field surveys for its research titled “Organizing for Equality: Study on Women and Gender Mainstreaming in Labor Unions in Philippine Key Services Subsectors,” starting with Regions III (Pampanga), and XI (Davao)."
The said research, with support from the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Philippines, aims to ascertain the state of women’s participation and the integration of gender and women’s issues in unions in certain services subsectors in the country.
Part of the study’s methodology is to conduct survey-interviews with presidents or designated representatives of enterprise-based unions (affiliated/independent/chartered local). The unions have been selected based on random sampling, with assistance from the Bureau of Labor Relations and partner national labor federation.
In August, the ILS is scheduled to conduct the same field survey in Regions IV-A (Laguna), and VII (Cebu).
The Institute for Labor Studies is the policy and research arm of the Department of Labor and Employment. For more information about ILS products and services, please visit: http//ils.dole.gov.ph or call Advocacy and Publication Division at Tel. No. 527-3590
