Manila – Senior Labor and Employment Officer Ronell J. Delerio presented his paper on mental health during The Manila Times online forum on "Resiliency and Adaptability at All Times of the BPO Industry - Bedrock of Philippine Employment Through the Years" last September 11.

In his paper titled "Between Resilience and Transformation: Mental health Interventions and Challenges in the IT-BPO Sector Through the Covid-19 Crisis," Delerio shared that only two out of five IT-BPO companies have a "distinct" mental health policy. He stressed the need for IT-BPO or Information Technology-Business Process Outsourcing companies to advance the institutionalization of mental health in their offices.

“We have to start with the appreciation that things are overwhelming right now and even the government is quite really overwhelmed in managing the Covid crisis. And when you're overwhelmed you sometimes overlook certain things like mental health that has been historically marginalized in terms of prioritization."
