QUEZON CITY - The Institute for Labor Studies participated in the National Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (NTIPC) Special Meeting held on September 30, at the Occupational Safety and Health Center, Quezon City.
The meeting served as a venue to discuss key legislations such as the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) on the Caregivers Welfare Act (CWA) and Strengthening the Tripartism Act, Revised Rules for Alien Employment Permits (AEP) and Sr These legislations were first reviewed and discussed at the Technical Committee on Legislative Matters (TCLM) where the ILS serves as the secretariat before being cleared for discussion at the NTIPC level.
The National Occupational Safety and Health Strategy 2024-2028 was also tackled focusing on the mechanisms for compliance with occupational safety and health standards, and related statistics.
ILS also witnessed the ceremonial signing of the IRR of the Eddie Garcia Act was led by Senate President Pro Tempore Sen. Jinggoy Estrada and Rep. Mikee Romero, along with officials from the House of Representatives, industry representatives, Movie and Television Industry Tripartite Council, and key officials from the Department of Labor and Employment led by Secretary Bienvenido E. Laguesma and industry leaders.
The NTIPC, created through RA 10395, is headed by the Secretary of Labor and Employment, with twenty (20) representatives each from the labor and employers’ sectors to ensure the latter’s participation in the decision and policy-making processes of the government.
