The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) prepares its research on portable social security scheme for migrant workers in support of the country’s hosting of the 37th APEC Human Resources Development Working Group (HRDWG) meeting from May 10 to 13.

The ILS is part of the Steering Committee formed by the Department of Labor and Employment  (DOLE) and tasked to ensure a successful engagement of the PHL-APEC Hosting of APEC 2015. The ILS is also named a member of the Committee on Labor on Social Protection Network.

The research is being conducted in support of the proposed workshop on the development of an APEC-wide system toward a seamless country to country implementation of the respective social security and social service systems of the APEC members.

The event forms part of the country’s hosting of the APEC Leaders’ Summit on November 17 to 18, 2015. This year’s summit is themed “Building Inclusive Economies, Building a Better World” and highlights the country’s Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and their contribution to economic growth.

Chairmanship of the Summit involves hosting and chairing of a series of meetings from the Senior Officials Meetings (SOMs) to the APEC Ministerial Meetings (AMMs) and the APEC Economic Leaders Meeting (AELM).
