ILS participates in the first leg of the DOLE Labor and Employment Plan consultation in Iloilo

Institute for Labor Studies OIC-Executive Director III Jeanette T. Damo participated in the Visayas leg of the 2023-2028 Labor and Employment Plan (LEP) area-based consultation co-organized by the Department of Labor and Employment with the International Labour Organization at Park-Inn Radisson Hotel, Iloilo City on 16-17 March 2023.

The consultation series aims to craft strategies for improving labor and employment policies and programs for the next five years.

Participants included representatives from labor and management, youth, marginalized farmers and fisherfolk, transport organizations, entrepreneurs, indigenous people's groups, cooperatives, women's group, gig economy workers, health workers and other sectoral representatives from the Visayas region.

Providing inputs in the meeting were member agencies of the Regional Development Council VI and DOLE's Regional Coordinating Councils from Regions VI, VII and VIII. The members of the Regional Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (RTIPC) 6 also actively participated in the discussions.

Undersecretary Carmela  I. Torres and Assistant Secretary Paul Vincent W. Añover were among the DOLE officials who facilitated the consultation.

The next leg of the said consultation will be held in Cagayan de Oro on 27-28 March.
