Manila – Institute for Labor Studies OIC-Executive Director Atty. Mary Grace L. Riguer served as the official representative of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) during the ASEAN Forum on Green Jobs Promotion held last September 14-15 at The Bazaar Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.

Atty. Riguer moderated Session II of the forum with the theme, “Experiences Sharing: Our Transition to Greener Business,” where a panel of business leaders from Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam talked about their sustainability solutions.

The two-day forum consisted of a one-day conference and a half-day study visit to a multinational company pioneering in green technology and environment-friendly initiatives. It also aimed to foster knowledge and regional awareness on the issues of green jobs, especially among labour government officials and labor and employer organizations in the ASEAN region, and to contribute to the development of stronger presence of government-led employment services responsive new employment patterns.

The event intended to lay the groundwork for preparing millions of workers for jobs that will be created out of green enterprises and for identifying strategies to cushion workers against the risk of job displacement or losses in emission-intensive industries.
