Manila, Philippines – The Inter-Agency Committee on Research and Statistical Matters held its 2nd IAC-RSM Meeting for 2017 last 12 May at the iLearn Conference Room of the Institute for Labor Studies, Intramuros, Manila.
The meeting was headed by Assistant Secretary Alex V. Avila and ILS OIC-Executive Director Atty. Mary Grace L. Riguer. Asec. Avila stressed that the researches should be based on the DOLE Legislative Agenda for 2017-2022. He also underlined that the proposed research commitments should be attached to a policy program or a program priority of the agency or bureau.
The ILS, as the Secretariat of the DOLE IAC-RSM Committee and the Research arm of the Department, has committed 22 researches for 2017, which includes 11 Legislative Papers on the following topics: Strengthening Worker’s Right to Security of Tenure, Unemployment Insurance / Benefit, Strengthening OSH (Occupational Safety and Health) Standards Bill, Magna Carta for Seafarers, Labor Law Compliance System (LLCS) Bill, Apprenticeship Bill, Union Registration Bill, NLRC Appeal Bill, Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labor and Affording Stronger Protection for the Working Child, Productivity Incentive / Gain Sharing Bill and Telecommuting.
The 2nd quarterly meeting closed with an ILS presentation on E-regulations website initiative which is targeted to serve as an online public consultation facility.
