Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) recently announced the constitution of the project team that will roll out Implementation Agreement No. 40281447 between the International Labour Organization (ILO) and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for the project titled, "Public Campaign for Safe and Fair Migration in the ASEAN Region."
ILS Executive Director Ahmma Charisma Lobrin-Satumba named Employee Research Division (ERD) Acting Chief Paulina Kim C. Pacete, and ERD Acting Supervising Labor and Employment Officer Carl Rookie O. Daquio as project managers. Other team members included Workers Welfare Research Division (WWRD) Chief Maria Isabel D. Artajo, WWRD Acting Supervising LEO Ronell J. Delerio, ERD Senior LEO Carl Sean E. Pablico, Advocacy and Publications Division (APD) Senior LEO Atty. Tecelyn B. Maramag, APD LEO III Mr. Marc Raphael A. Peñaredondo, and APD LEO II Arianne lshreen C. Bucar.
Under this implementation agreement, the ILO’s Safe and Fair (SAF) Programme will engage with the Philippines through DOLE, and provide co-funding support to develop two audio-visual presentations that will be used to supplement existing education programmes for migrant workers, with special focus on women migrant workers in the ASEAN region.
The project is an activity under the thematic area “protection and promotion of the rights of migrant workers” of the ACMW Work Plan 2016-2020, which forms part of the ASEAN Labour Ministers’ Work Programme 2016-2020 as adopted by the 24th ASEAN Labour Ministers Meeting in May 2016. In addition, the proposed project will contribute to the implementation of the Strategic Measures of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Blueprint 2025, which primarily aims to enhance the effective implementation of relevant ASEAN declarations and instruments related to human rights.
