Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) joined government agencies during the commemoration of the 125th Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Philippine Independence and Nationhood on June 12 at the Quirino Grandstand, Rizal Park, Manila.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led the Independence Day celebration kick-off ceremonies starting with the flag-raising and wreath-laying rites followed by a short musical presentation of the Philippines’ emblems of Independence. This year’s national theme is “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan. (Freedom. Future. History.)”
ILS employees joined the grand civic-military “Parada ng Kalayaan” parade with the theme “Alab ng Puso” to honor our heroes who sacrificed their lives in the name of the Philippine Independence. Top government officials led the parade, with the participating national government agencies, local government units, and civic organizations.
The Institute’s participation formed part of the Department of Labor and Employment’s various initiatives in celebrating Independence Day for the Filipino people. DOLE’s booth in Rizal Park showcased the agency’s programs and services. It also launched the Kalayaan Job Fair 2023 in various venues including Metro Manila and participating regions as spearheaded by the Bureau of Local Employment, in partnership with DOLE regional offices, Public Employment Services Offices, and other government agencies.
