On June 12, 2018, the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) joined in the celebration of the country’s 120th independence day at Rizal Park grounds, in Manila. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Kalayaan 2018, Pagbabagong Ipinaglaban, Alay sa Masaganang Kinabukasan.”
Vice President Leni Robredo led in the flag-raising ceremony at the Jose Rizal Shrine at Luneta Park, while President Rodrigo R. Duterte led the flag-raising rites in Kawit, cavite.
“Patuloy ang ating panalangin na manatiling buhay sa puso ng bawat Pilipino ang tunay na ibig sabihin ng maging malaya. Kasama ng sambayanang Pilipino, gagawin natin ang lahat upang mapangalagaan at maipaglaban ang kalayaang nakamit ng mga nauna sa atin,” was the core Independence Day message of Vice President Robredo.
