Manila - The Institute for Labor Studies joined the nation in celebrating the 123rd Philippine Independence Day last June 12, alongside the celebration of the World Day Against Child Labor (WDACL).

This year’s World Day Against Child Labour was celebrated with a “Week of Action against Child Labor” from 10-17 June 2021. Throughout this special week, events and activities around the world provided an opportunity to discuss the new ILO-UNICEF global estimates and trends on child labor and showcased progress on the implementation of International Year “2021 Action Pledges.”

The Philippine counterpart for WDACL celebration carried the theme, “Makibahagi, Makialam, at Magkaisa para sa #BatangMalaya!” Every child must be free to play, to study, to be safe and healthy, free from abusive labor and free to experience and enjoy their childhood.

In line with this ILO initiative, the Institute, as a steadfast advocate and partner in eliminating all forms of child labor, posted, shared, and promoted the 2021 WDACL poster in its web site and social media platforms.

A webinar that will form part of the ILS Advocacy Series for this year will also include a topic focused on tackling child labor challenges within the Indigenous Peoples communities.
