Makati City — The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS), represented by Senior Labor and Employment Officer Loren S. Cayabyab, was among the discussants at the forum of the University of the Philippines School of Labor and Industrial Relations (SOLAIR), held on December 14, 2024, at the 5th Floor, SOLAIR New Building, UP Diliman, Quezon City.
The forum was conducted as a course requirement for the semester under the Industrial Relations subject on Special Problems in Labor Policy Administration under Dr. Verna Dinah Viajar. The research presenters were Roel Copon and Aaron Orijuela, who conducted the study “Determining the Working Conditions and its Impact on the Quality of Work Life and Turnover Intent of Virtual Assistants in the Philippines.”
Mr. Cayabyab shared the opportunities in the Philippines for virtual work and recommendations to improve job security and protection for virtual assistants.
The roundtable discussion panel was composed of Atty. Alvin B. Curada, Director of the Department of Labor and Employment - Bureau of Working Conditions, Atty. Alvin Liao Alburo, and Mr. John Perez. The discussion was moderated by Ms. Dexie Perez and Ms. Stephanie Jaurigue of the International Labor Organization.
