The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) participated in the planning workshop for the Philippine Program Against Child Labor (PPAPCL) Strategic Framework 2023-2028 held from April 18 to 21, 2023 at One Tagaytay Place Suites in Tagaytay City.
In attendance were representatives from government agencies, labor organizations, civil society groups, and international organizations. During the workshop, participants discussed the current situation of child labor in the country, identified the gaps and challenges in implementing child labor laws and policies, and came up with strategies and action plans to address these issues for the next five years.
The updating of the said framework ensures the sustainability of already institutionalized efforts that are supported by the national government. It is also in crucial support of the Sustainable Development Goal target 8.7 of ending child labor in all its forms by 2025.
The workshop was organized by the NCACL, led by the Department of Labor and Employment, with assistance from the International Labour Organization.
ILS has been an active member of the National Council Against Child Labor (NCACL) that was created in 2019 by virtue of Executive Order No. 92. It was represented in the workshop by Ms. Frances Camille Dumalaog, Senior Labor and Employment Officer.
