The Institute for Labor Studies organized the 4th iGov Talks on the theme “Freedom of Information: Toward a Transparent Path of Public Service” on 27 March 2017 at the iLEARN Conference Room, 5th Floor DOLE Building, Gen. Luna St, Intramuros, Manila.
Assistant Secretary Kristian A. Ablan, Jr. of the Presidential Communications Operations Office graced the event as resource speaker. Asec. Ablan talked about Freedom of Information as expressed through Executive Order No. 2 which outlines the rules on access to information covering all government offices under the Executive Branch.
“This year’s theme underlines the call for transparency in public service including access to public information, anchored in the principle that public office is a public trust. We see the topic of freedom of information as crucial in the formulation of our respective FOI manuals as required by Executive Order No. 2 as well as AO-25 Task Force Memorandum Circular No. 01-2017,” says ILS OIC-Executive Director Mary Grace L. Riguer during the welcome remarks.
Participants to the said event also included Freedom of Information focal persons of the different DOLE bureaus, services, and attached agencies.
iGov Talks is a good governance platform and an annual advocacy event of the Institute on practices, models and experiences that demonstrate what is best in public office.
