Manila, Philippines - The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) hosted the Department of Labor and Employment’s post-Independence Day flag raising ceremony last June 13, 2016 at the Local Governance Learning Center (LGLC) at the Blas Ople Hall in Intramuros, Manila.
The event was attended by DOLE officials headed by then DOLE Acting Secretary Nicon Fameronag.
In line with the recently held 118th Independence Day celebration, a short video presentation titled “Freedom Day AVP” was shown to the audience. The AVP showcased a brief history of the celebration of Philippine Independence.
In his keynote message, Acting Secretary Nicon Fameronag echoed President Benigno S. Aquino III’s message during the “Vin d’Honneur” in Malacañan, emphasizing the administration’s legacy of freedom.
Likewise, Acting Secretary Fameronag thanked everyone at the DOLE for the success of the Independence Day job fair at the Rizal Park and held simultaneously across all regions. He also relayed outgoing Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz’s message which encourages all DOLE agencies to give their full support to the incoming DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III.
“If the 6,000 plus employees of the DOLE are able to give their 100% support to the Secretary during her six-year term, then we urge everyone to give their 200% support to the new Secretary.”
