Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies, as the Secretariat of the revived DOLE Inter-Agency Committee on Research and Statistical Matters (IAC-RSM), hosted the 2nd quarterly meeting of the committee last June 16 at the Local Governance Learning Center of the DOLE in Intramuros, Manila.
This meeting is also the first in person meeting since the committee’s revival by virtue of Department Order 229, Series of 2021, signed by Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III last November 18, 2021.
In attendance were various focal persons of IAC-RSM member committees, together with researchers from the Institute for Labor Studies to discuss their proposed research projects for this year, including possible collaboration and partnerships with other DOLE offices, bureaus and attached agencies.
The agencies also named their permanent representatives and research focal person.
Also, the Committee, through ILS Executive Director Ahmma Charisma Lobrin-Satumba, awarded Asec. Avila with a plaque of appreciation as its outgoing Vice Chairperson.
The plaque read: “In recognition of his indomitable commitment to public service through the various roles he performed with inspiring verve and dynamism in the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), most notably as vice chair of the DOLE Inter-Agency Committee for Research and Statistical Matters (IAC RSM), which significantly bridged the Committee's task of formulating the DOLE's research agenda to the DOLE's thrust of evidence-based policymaking.”
The IAC-RSM is guided by its primary function of formulating and recommending a research agenda for 2022 onwards after a review and analysis of previous research commitments along with a thorough evaluation of the policy priorities in the face of the COVID-19 situation and the incoming new DOLE officials.
