Executive Director Ahmma Charisma Lobrin-Satumba set the tone for the planning by discussing key issues and concerns that ILS should look into such as the identification of skill needed for the construction industry, unemployment insurance, maternity protection, and the challenges of the so-called 4th Industrial Revolution.
The Department of Labor and Employment Planning Service Director Adeline T. de Castro was also present to share the results of the DOLE 2019 cluster planning, including concerns and issues raised on labor and employment that the ILS can consider as research topics.
Acting Deputy Executive Director Patrick Patriwirawan, Jr. also gave an update on the Institute’s 2018 accomplishments. This was followed by the reporting of the divisions on their proposed research topics and activities for 2019. The employees also participated in a workshop for a five-year research agenda and to surface possible themes around which their annual researches can be anchored on.
