Pasay City – The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) Executive Director III Jeanette T. Damo joined as panelist the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Tatak Pinoy Summit held on December 4, 2024 at the Sheraton Manila Hotel.

The summit, themed “Tatak Pinoy Strategy: Catalyzing Industrial Transformation,” brought together government officials, academics, and industry leaders to discuss strategies for the country’s industrial advancement.

During the panel session, “A Future-Ready Philippines: Capitalizing on Innovative Technologies and Solutions,” Executive Director Damo presented key findings and recommendations from the ILS Working Paper, “Impact of Artificial Intelligence on the Labor Market,” authored by Chelsea Nicole P. Pineda and Marvin G. Cabangunay. Executive Director Damo also emphasized the potential challenges and opportunities that AI and other emerging technologies pose for workers in the IT-BPM and manufacturing sectors.

The Tatak Pinoy Summit fostered discussions on innovative approaches toward expanding market access and strengthen the Philippines’ position in global value chains.

The event also featured sessions and networking opportunities, providing valuable insights into the latest trends and best practices in industrial transformation and technological innovation.

The full text of the “Impact of Artificial Intelligence on the Labor Market” Working Paper, along with other 2024 ILS Working Papers, will be available on the ILS website by the end of December 2024.
