Employees of the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) attended a special viewing of the Planetarium shows titled “Hayabusa” on 11 May 2017 and “Journey to a Billion Stars” on 25 May 2017 at the National Museum Planetarium, Manila.
The said activity was encouraged by OIC-Executive Director Mary Grace L. Riguer and is in line with the ILS Welfare Program Activities instituted under Administrative Order (AO) No. 90, series of 2016, and is in compliance with DOLE AO No. 362, series of 2016, to promote better employee welfare. One of the program’s target components is to develop value formation and educational activities, which include study tours and educational trips.
The primary function of the Planetarium is to disseminate astronomical information through planetarium shows, lectures, demonstrations, exhibits and actual celestial observations. The unique feature of the Planetarium is the realistic projection of astronomical bodies using the GM-15 Goto Planetarium Projector that was acquired through the Japanese Reparation Program in the Philippines.
