On June 22-23, 2015, technical staff of the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) and other offices and attached agencies of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) participated in a training on statistical analysis using Stata. The training is in preparation for the updating of the Philippine Employment Projections Model (PEPM), in partnership with the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
Participants from the ILS, Professional Regulation Commission, Philippines Overseas Employment Administration, National Wages and Productivity Commission, Bureau of Local Employment, Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns, and Planning Service learned about statistical operations and data management using the software Stata.
Associate Professor Manuel Leonard Albis of the University of the Philippines School of Statistics served as the resource person during the training, facilitating exercises and giving lectures.
The participants will constitute the core group, which will participate in a workshop on PEPM set in July 2015, in collaboration with ILO. Staff from the Department of Budget and Management, National Economic Development Authority and the PSA will also participate in the PEPM training.
DOLE earlier sought to expand the PEPM with technical assistance from the ILO to cover sub-sectoral data. The expanded model will be used in informing human resource strategic planning and labor market information.
