Quezon City - The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS), through researchers Athena Mari E. Son and Joe Mari S. Francisco, visited the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Climate Change Service (DENR-CCS) for a consultation-meeting on January 9 at the DENR Central Office, Quezon City.

The consultation aimed to align research objectives, scope, and national policy priorities focused on integrating the study's goals with DENR's Just Transition Country Roadmap project.

DENR-CCS Director Elenida Basug and Technical Staff Sandee Recabar identified the transport sector as a key priority area where just transition should be examined, mapped, and applied. Information on micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSME) transitions, in particular, remains a gap that needs to be filled considering their economic contributions and green jobs creation potential. The impact of green and digital transitions in MSMEs may also be assessed, including the extent jobs will be affected (created, eliminated, transformed, or substituted).

As the next step, the ILS study team will meet with the National Wages and Productivity Commission and the Department of Trade and Industry to get further insights on the proposed study.
