Quezon City - The Institute for Labor Studies' (ILS) Just Transition Study Team (J. Francisco & A. Son) conducted a scoping meeting today with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Climate Change Service (DENR-CCS) to align research objectives, scope, and national policy priorities.
The consultation focused on integrating the study's goals with DENR's Just Transition Country Roadmap project. DENR-CCS Director Elenida Basug and Technical Staff Sandee Recabar identified the transport sector as a key priority area where just transition should be examined, mapped, and applied. Information on MSME transitions, in particular, remain a gap that needs to be filled considering their economic contributions and green jobs creation potential. The impact of green and digital transitions in MSMEs may also be assessed, including the extent jobs will be affected (created, eliminated, transformed, or substituted).
To complete the scoping phase, the ILS study team will engage representatives from the National Wages and Productivity Commission and the Department of Trade and Industry.
