Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) conducted its 2023 Internal Quality Audit (IQA) from May 22 to 26 to assess its 17 registered processes.
The IQA serves as an opportunity for the Institute to check its systems, processes, and mechanisms to ensure quality delivery of services to its clientele. It aims to support the Institute in identifying potential areas for improvement, scrutinize the progress of the findings resulting from previous audits conducted, and assess its compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and its established Quality Management Systems (QMS).
Internal Audit Team Leader Marc Raphael A. Peñaredondo led the Opening Meeting with fellow ILS employees last May 22. In his presentation, he emphasized the objectives of the IQA and the scope of the audit, and discussed the highlights and expectations from the process owners. The week-long activity was conducted in preparation for the ISO External Audit come July 2023.
ILS Deputy Executive Director III Atty. Mary Grace Riguer-Teodosio was also in attendance during the Opening Meeting. In her Opening Remarks, Atty. Riguer-Teodosio stressed the need for the Internal Audit Team and the process owners to ensure that all processes follow the standards in the ISO certification. She also encouraged employees to be part of the audit team in relation to the reorganization of the QMS committees prior to the recertification in 2024.
The ISO certification complies with Executive Order No. 605 series 2007 directing all government departments and agencies to adhere to the ISO 9001 Quality Management System Standards in the promotion and enhancement of public sector performance following international standards.
