In celebration of its 25th year of service, the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) marked the occasion with its Christmas Party-cum-25th Grand Anniversary celebration, dubbed “ILSilver Acoustic Carols” held on December 21, 2012 at the ILS Hall.
“Our year-end party served as a double celebration for ILS. First the occasion marked the annual celebration of the Christmas season and second was to commemorate our 25 years of service, which we marked early this year,” said Executive Director Cynthia R. Cruz of the Institute for Labor Studies.
The Institute for Labor Studies was established in July 25,1987, by virtue of Executive Order No. 251.
“Our 25th anniversary celebration is an occasion of thanksgiving for all the blessings we have received in the past 25 years. It is also a time for renewal of ties with between ILS and its alumni,” Director Cruz explained.
The Institute for Labor Studies has been home to distinguished alumni, who include several DOLE secretaries, esteemed academe and leaders of international organizations. In 2009, the ILS formed the ILS Alliance, a network of ILS former employees.
“This occasion will not just be a gathering but also a reunion in a sense. It also paves the way for future collaborations we will be doing with our alumni, and mentoring as well, specially with our young employees,” she ended.
The ILS Christmas/Anniversary celebration kicked off with a Eucharistic Celebration for its employees, followed by its traditional boodle fight, and an acoustic concert featuring talents from the ILS.
“As we look forward to more years of continued service with ILS, we hope we continue this tradition of excellence and collaborative camaraderie among its alumni,” said Cruz.
