"A research on greening the mining industry can help the anti-mining stakeholders understand the importance of the mining sector to other industries."

The statement was made by Ms. Joyce Anne Lumactud, OIC-Chief Labor & Employment Officer of the Institute for Labor Studies as among her recommendations during the Mining Philippines 2018 Conference and Exhibition organized by the Chamber of Mines of the Philippines held at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel last September 18.

Ms. Lumactud joined other speakers in the focus group discussion where she reported the recommendations from the research written by ILS researcher Stephanie Flores titled “Skills and Compensation Survey for Metallic Mines- High Compensation but Large Job Vacancies.”

The panel reactors, which included Mr. Knestor Godino, Vice President for Corporate Human Resources and Administration of Lepanto Consolidated Mining Company, and Mr. Juancho Pablo Galvez, Chief of the Metallurgical Technological Division of the Mines and Geoscience Bureau, concurred with the statement of Ms. Lumactud and further expressed that all recommendations in the said research should be supported and adopted.
