The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) marked its 31st Anniversary with the awarding of the ISO 9001:2015 certification from the representatives of the AJA Registrars Inc. on 25th July 2018 at Bayleaf Hotel, Intramuros, Manila.

“ILS ISO 9001:2015 certification is just the starting point of adhering to the ILS’ mission, vision and core values of Integrity, Excellence, Public Service, Innovation and Compassion (I-EPIC). I wish to give emphasis on compassion as an expression of malasakit to Filipino workers. Researchers should always have compassion specially to vulnerable workers. Decent work can only be achieved by giving voice to the voiceless,” said Acting Executive Director Ahmma Charisma’s Lobrin-Satumba, welcoming all guests to the celebration.

ILS was formally established on July 25, 1987 through Executive Order No. 251 in response to the growing need of DOLE for responsive and innovative researches for its policy recommendations. ILS since then has proudly taken on its role as the policy research and advocacy arm of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

ILS’ 31st anniversary celebration was graced by DOLE Seretary Silvestre Bello III and other DOLE senior officials, including Assistant Secretaries Gloria A.Tango, Amuerfina R. Reyes, Alex Avila, Federico V. Abuan and Mariano A. Alquiza. It was also graced by former Executive Directors of ILS Cynthia R. Cruz and Atty. Grace Riguer, along with Planning Services Director Adeline T. De Castro, and Bureau of Labor and Employment Director Dominique Tutay.
