PASAY CITY - The Institute for Labor Studies, led by Executive Director Jeanette T. Damo, was among the observers of the 2nd Round Philippines-European Union Free Trade Agreement Negotiations from February 10 to 14, 2025 at the Sheraton Hotel, Pasay City.
The European Union endeavors to build a framework of bilateral trade agreements with ASEAN member states as a precursor to a future region-to-region agreement. For the PH-EU FTA, sustainability serves as the core principle.
The delegation of the Department of Labor and Employment was composed of representatives from the Bureau of Local Employment, Bureau of Working Conditions, International Labor Affairs Task Force, and the Institute for Labor Studies, with Atty. Alvin B. Curada, Director of the Bureau of Working Conditions, as the lead negotiator.
ILS is represented in the FTA working groups for Trade and Sustainable Development by ED Damo, Trade in Services by Employment Research Division Officer-in-Charge Bernard Paul Mangulabnan, and Dispute Settlement by Senior Labor and Employment Officer Atty. Joanne Camille P. Bejarin.
