The Institute for Labor Studies successfully published nine (9) research studies on the Socioeconomic Research Portal of the Philippines (SERP-P) managed by the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS).
Following the Institute’s research agenda for 2024, the following research studies are now available for public viewing on SERP-P:
Papers on rethinking social protection in the future of work were featured, titled “Mental Health at Work: Determinants of a Safe and Healthy Workplace,” by Franchesca Rose S. Castillo, Diether B. Navarosa and Marcos S. Ursua; “Impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the Labor Market,” by Marvin G. Cabangunay, Chelsea Nicole P. Pineda, Athena Mari E. Son, and Joe Mari S. Francisco; and “Revisiting Social Amelioration Program (SAP) in the Sugar Industry Using the Transformative Social Protection Framework,” by Miraluna S. Tacadao, Joan N. Comillo, Michelle Ann A. Ruiz and Arianne Ishreen C. Bucar.
On building a resilient workforce through just transitions, the following papers were featured: “National Green Jobs Human Resource Development Plan 2020-2030: Pathways for Building a Sustainable Workforce,” by principal authors Athena Mari E. Son and Atty. Jayvy R. Gamboa (consultant); “Green Jobs and Renewable Energy: A Sectoral Human Resource Development Roadmap” by Athena Mari E. Son, and “Just Transition Pathways in the Philippine Blue Economy: Exploring Sustainable Coastal Accommodations and Tourism Initiatives,” by Arianne Ishreen C. Bucar, Joe Mari S. Francisco and Athena Mari E. Son.
Studies on protecting labor rights and promoting workers’ welfare in the transforming world of work looked into the elements of labor provisions in trade negotiations with the study titled, “Towards a Unified Labor Negotiation Framework: Identifying Elements of Sound Labor Provisions in Free Trade Agreements,” by Loren Art S. Cayabyab, Jan Danielle S. Bondad and Joyce Anne S. Lumactud.
On elevating labor and social relations and practices toward inclusive growth and industrial peace, research studies on good practices of labor management relations, and the efficacy of bipartite dispute settlement mechanisms were featured titled, “Benchmarking of Company Practices in Labor Standards Compliance and Labor-Management Relations” by Franchesca Rose S. Castillo, Joan N. Comillo, and Jan Danielle S. Bondad; and “Labor Management Councils and Grievance Machineries: Bipartite Dispute Mechanisms as Drivers of Industrial Peace,” by Atty. Joanne Camille P. Bejarin and Joyce Anne S. Lumactud.
ILS is one of the labor policy research contributors and has been consistently featured on SERP-P.
