“Integrating gender lens in our labor policy research will help enhance our researches.” This is a closing statement of Acting Executive Director Ahmma Charisma Lobrin Satumba, as she thanked the speaker for the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) for the training on Gender Mainstreaming in Research,, which was held on 22 March 2018 at iLearn Conference room, 5th Floor DOLE Bldg., Intramuros, Manila.
Dr. Jean Encinas-Franco of the University of the Philippines, Political Science Department facilitated the one-day training seminar on gender mainstreaming for labor policy researchers of the ILS, The training aimed to guide the researchers in integrating gender perspectives in their research framework and instruments for 2018.
Ronnel Delerio, chairperson of the ILS Gender and Development (GAD Committee emphasized the importance of explicitly integrating gender in every step of the research process. “As labor policy researchers, looking at every labor issues with gender lens and integrating the same in our research process will enrich our policy recommendations”.
The lecture was followed with the discussion and critiquing of the draft ILS research proposals using gender lens.
