Optimistic progress in 211 commitments seen, priority projects in the pipeline kick-off its second year of implementation
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will soon release a report on the progress of the Philippine Labor and Employment Plan (LEP) 2011-2016. The report is up for adoption by the Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (TIPC), which started assessing the plan in a meeting on the eve of Labor Day at the Bayleaf Hotel in Intramuros, Manila.
Among the main objectives of the LEP are to generate one million decent and productive employment each year until 2016, to align the Philippine Labor Code with ratified international standards and to provide ample protection for vulnerable workers experiencing precarious forms of employment.
The LEP is a sector plan aligned with the Philippine Development Plan 2011-2016. Launched in April 27, 2011, the Plan is derived from several consultations with 257 stakeholders from national government agencies, employer groups, labor unions, non-governmental organizations and youth organizations, nationwide.
