The Institute, through the invitation of U.P. Law Center’s Institute of Government and Law Reform (IGLR), witnessed the culmination of the Labor Code Revision Project that it launched years ago in order to work on proposed amendments to the Labor Code of the Philippines.
Highlighted in the proposed revised labor code is the addition of a new section, Book VII: Promoting Gender Equality. In attendance was House Deputy Speaker Rufus B. Rodriguez who vowed to file the proposed revised labor code as a bill as soon as the next congress opens.
The revised labor code was presented last June 21, at the Faculty Lounge, Malcolm Hall, Diliman, Quezon City.
The Labor Code Revision Project was launched years ago in order to work on proposed amendments to the Labor Code of the Philippines.
The activity was attended by Labor Law Professors, and other resources persons from various labor sectors, together with House Deputy Speaker Rufus B. Rodriguez who vowed to file the proposed revised labor code as a bill as soon as the next congress opens. Representing the Institute was researcher Carl Sean E. Pablico.
The Institute of Government and Law Reform (IGLR) of the U.P. Law Center is an academic, research, and training institute mandated to discharge the law codification and revision functions of the now defunct Code Commission.
The IGLR fulfills the UP Law Center’s statutory mandate to undertake research initiatives for various aspects of the law as basis for law reform by conducting technical research and studies in law, developing proposals for legislative reform, and providing legal opinions and comments on pending legislation and executive issuances.
