The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) hosted the 3rd Inter--Agency Committee on Research and Statistical Matters (IAC-RSM), held on September 30, from 1 PM to 5 PM at the Local Governance and Learning Center (LGLC), DOLE Building, Intramuros, Manila.
As the Secretariat of the IAC-RSM, the Institute helms the quarterly meeting of the IAC-RSM members, which serves as the venue for all member agencies to provide updates on their research agenda for the year.
For this quarter, other than the regular research updates, the meeting focused on the accomplishments of the IAC-RSM from its inception since 2011 until 2015, which were presented to its Chairperson, outgoing Assistant Secretary Katherine B. Brimon.
Also on the agenda was the proposed capacity building sessions specifically designed for the committee members. The capacity building sessions, scheduled to be held on November 15-16, aims to revisit the main objectives and goals of the IAC-RSM through lectures and environmental scanning workshops. These would then translate to the main output, which is a draft of the five-year research agenda, which will serve as the guide for all policy research initiatives of the Department.
The concept note for the said strategic planning was presented by ILS OIC-Executive Director Ma. Celeste M. Valderrama.
