Labor Force Survey Report

The January 2019 LFS round shows that the labor force participation rate (LFPR) dropped to 60.2 percent from 62. 2 percent a year ago. While employment gains were recorded in the industry and services sector, these were negated by employment losses in agriculture as the overall employment level declined to 41.368 million from 41.755 million, year-on-year. Furthermore, the share of young people that are neither in education nor employment (NEE) slightly increased to 19.7 percent in January 2019 from 18.8 percent in January 2018.
