The October 2014 LFS1 , which is the 4th survey round made this year, has yielded a positive employment outlook compared to the October 2013 LFS round. The results indicated a decrease in the unemployment rate from 6.4 percent to 6.0 percent, the lowest ever recorded since April 2005, when the Philippines adopted the international standard to include availability criterion in addition to “without work” and “looking for work” in the unemployment definition. The results likewise show a continued rebound for the Philippine labor market performance compared to last year’s sluggish performance brought about by the series of disasters that hit the country during the end of 2013.
