The Philippines has a long history with job mismatch. Mismatch occurs when workers are either over-skilled, being able to deal with more complex tasks than those required by their jobs, or under-skilled and lacking the minimum skills required for their current jobs. Qualifications mismatch is particularly relevant for youth or individuals lacking the resources, skills or motivation as it sets out a career path that may lead to lower life-long earnings and lower job satisfaction.
