The WORKING AT SEA: Stakeholders’ Consultation on Philippine Compliance to the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 was conducted on 16 to 17 May 2013 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Cebu City. The consultations was conducted by the DOLE through the Institute for Labor Studies in coordination with the Bureau of Working Conditions, Bureau of Labor Relations and the International Labor Affairs Bureau, and with support of the International Labour Organization. The activity aims to prepare implementers from government, ship owners, Filipino seafarers and other maritime stakeholders for the implementation of the MLC, 2006 through better and in-depth appreciation of the issues in the domestic shipping industry as well as the requirements for implementation and ensuring compliance. Participants consulted are representatives from the organizations of seafarers, shipowners and concerned government agencies in Region VII.
