The Institute for Labor Studies welcomes three (3) Department of Labor and Employment-Government Internship Program (DOLE-GIP) interns to its workplace this year.

The DOLE-GIP interns who are on a 6-month work program are the following: Wilman T. Ramos (Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila-B.S. Business Economics); Romy B. Longos (AMA Computer learning Center-Information Technology); and Precious Princes Psyche B. Brucelo (Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Accounting).

The DOLE-GIP is a component of the government’s Kabataan 2000 project under Executive Order No. 139, series of 1993, which aims to provide opportunities for young workers to serve the general public through the projects and services of government agencies and offices at both local and national level.

Under the GIP revised guidelines, the DOLE Bureau of Labor and Employment shall provide technical support to other participating government agencies, in coordination with the National Youth Commission; establish and maintain the DOLE-GIP database of beneficiaries; monitor the progress of implementation; submit accomplishment and assessment reports to the program secretariat and to Department of Budget Management; and provide forms and templates for the GIP implementation.

At the local level, the DOLE regional offices facilitate and supervise the program implementation, including the assignment of interns in government offices.
